Lunar animal drawings are perfect for flourishes
As a young kid growing up in a very diverse neighborhood, I got to celebrate lunar new year with the local Vietnamese population and it was a lot of fun, partly because of the food. As Cambodians, we celebrated our new year later in the year when the monsoon season picks up. But we celebrate the same zodiac!
So one year, I made a Lunar new year cards for my own friends. I got a lot of people saying how cute it was that I decided to make a template to download. You can use it for calligraphy practice or even just for your kids to color in!
For those of you who don’t have pointed nib, you can use a brush pen or a regular pen to play with creating flourishes or patterns. The template is set up to fit 4 in an 8.5×11 inch paper.
If you want to draw it on an actual card, I turn the paper around and with a soft pencil, I color around the shape of the animal. I then turn it back up so that the drawing is facing you and the pencil marks are lined up on a card. Then with a pen or sharp pencil, I trace the image, thus transferring the image onto the card. It’s a simple form of carbon copy method.
You can also buy my final pieces in my store.
