Behind the Scene: Custom Name Card: Kannitha
The client asked for 2 6×4 cards with Khmer and English name. One was to be gilded and the other is regular gouache paint. The English name would be scripted on top.
The card for Kannitha was supposed to be gilded. I knew I wouldn’t be able to write on top of a gilding so I opted for the text to go below.
The gouache piece for Kunthea was originally meant to have very simple text style because you can’t really write calligraphy on gouache. It won’t give the defined lines. The client was ok with this so for the 2nd design, I sketched the text on top of the painted Khmer letters.
Behind each card is a small note of what each name means.
