Behind Austen-Inspired Wedding

To prepare for this Jane Austen themed wedding, I researched samples of designs and motifs and hands (fonts) typically used from in or around that period. From the research, I sketched ideas before deciding on a direction.

As with all designs, I grid out the margins and the layouts of where things go. I go through many versions of layouts before deciding on one. Even envelopes are gridded out as best as possible. For bigger pieces of work, I actually pencil the words out to get the best approximation of where text will line up before testing out in ink. I used walnut ink on Borden Riley smooth rag paper for testing.
